Located in the heart of snowmobile country in Aroostook County, Maine. We are right on ITS 83, part of the 1600 miles of interconnecting trail system.

Trails are groomed from December until late March. Check out the trail report, updated once a week during the season.

SKIING

Want to enjoy the winter in another fashion?? Come and ski!! Whether your choice is downhill or cross-country, you will find it here in central Aroostook County.

The Caribou Parks and Recreation Dept. maintains 10 miles of groomed trails with set track. The trails are located at the Caribou Country Club off Rt 161 in Caribou or they can be accessed from the Gathering off US Rt 1 in Caribou.

You will find over a dozen cross-country trails with a varied terrain and scenery within an hour's drive of Caribou Cabins. Most of these trails are groomed and most are free to use, or require a small donation.

Ski on one of 19 downhill trails at Big Rock Ski Area, located 40 minutes to the south of Caribou Cabins in Mars Hill, Maine. Besides downhill, you can access cross-country and snowshoe trails at Big Rock.

How to Get Here

From Bangor, Maine I95 north to the Houlton exit. Take US Rte 1 north to Caribou. Follow the signs to Rte 161. Bear left off Rte 161 onto Rte 228. Go 9/10th of a mile and turn left onto Lombard Road. Watch for the Caribou Cabins sign on your left.
